Guidelines to Observe feeding

Baby raptors

Rebecca with Evie; Evie is the best surrogate Mom

Step One

Get together everything needed before beginning

•  Bowls to feed babies

•  Bowls to weigh babies

•  Forceps

•  Enough lactated ringer solution to make food moist

•  Water, q-tips and paper towels to clean faces after feeding

•  Enough food to feed only that feeding

•  Once food is warmed up, it is not good for any additional feedings.

Step Two

After heating food under the heat lamp, bring out the baby

•  Weigh the baby

•  Enter the weight on the chart

•  Feed the baby after weighing

•  Keep the baby warm during the feeding process

•  Feed only the food indicated on the chart

•  Weight the baby after feeding

•  Enter this amount on the chart

•  Subtract this amount from the weight before feeding

•  This is the amount the baby ate

Step Three

Clean all food off the baby's face

•  Clean any food that landed around the eyes

•  Wash all dishes

•  Clean all work surfaces with nolvalsan.

REMEMBER

•  Do not feed babies with a full crop

•  Don't feed babies mashed mouse straight out of the package. Moisten with water or lactated ringer solution.

•  Keep door to incubator open about 1".

•  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for all your help!!!
