Sunday and Monday folks will be featured in the next issue and so on and so on. Send me your bio's and a picture. Otherwise, I'll be visiting the CRC to interview and take photos of everyone I see. Let's meet the Saturday folks: *Kelly Torres * graduated in 2001 from UCD with a degree in Nature and Culture. Forever an animal lover, her interest in birds stems from early relationships with parakeets. Knowing she wanted to be involved with wildlife a previous volunteer stint at the Peninsula Humane Society, Wildlife Center intensified her desire to help. She's volunteered at the Raptor Center since 2001. An avid birder with advocacy and activism as some of her strong points, Kelly devotes her free time educating family and Kelly with Eviefriends on raptor awareness and identification. After several years as a Saturday volunteer feeding, administering medical treatments, tending to the babies during baby raptor season and handling the taming birds, Kelly is assisting Jo Cowan with some outreach events and has taken on the task of newsletter coordinator while Karen puts the website together. *Linnea vonAHn * started volunteering on Saturday's at the Raptor Center in 2003. Linnea had always wanted to be a veterinarian and began her education at UC Berkeley. Fueling her desire to accumulate medical knowledge she enrolled at Sonoma States and completed their medical technician program. She joined the field of Law enforcement and obtained a position as an Airport Police Officer. An opportunity to join the California Highway Patrol presented itself and she joined up. A few years into her role as a CHP officer, she became certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. After an Linnea in the kitchenillustrious career, Linnea retired from the California Highway Patrol and began her adventure back to vet school. She discovered she needed more experience handling large and small animals and launched her volunteer work. She's currently registered at Cosumnes River College and taking courses to become a Registered Vet Tech. She'll complete this coursework next year and will begin the application process to vet school. *Rebecca Corley * is in her third year in the Avian Sciences program at UC Davis. She wanted the opportunity to work with raptors especially after taking the raptor biology course. An Rebecca Corleyanimal lover in general, she has always been fascinated with birds. She grew up with parakeets, cockatiels in the house. A Gilroy native, she became an active and proficient birder watching the bird diversity at her homes backyard feeders. Rebecca wants to learn as much as possible about birds and their physiology because she's looking at careers in bird conservation. Cara with some grub *Cara Thow *, Wildlife Fisheries and Conservation Biology major, winter 2006 is her first quarter at the Center. She heard about the Center from a friend and decided to join. Her interest in birds comes from when she raised doves in the past. Now her interest lies in wildlife rehabilitation and she's looking at a career as a wildlife biologist. Vet school may come later. *Overview * *Student Staff * *Volunteers * *Outreach * *Obituaries * *Babies * *What's New/ Related Items*
